LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville spring sports season will begin with an exciting and busy opening day on Feb. 22 in Louisville, highlighted by the inaugural season-opener for the Cards' lacrosse program and the 2008 home openers for the U of L baseball and softball teams.

With head coach Kellie Young's Louisville lacrosse program set to open its first ever season at 1 p.m. ET against Bryant University, the day will begin at approximately 12:45 p.m. ET with a special pre-game ceremony leading up to the opening draw at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium located on South Floyd St., next to the Yum! Center. Along with Friday's opener, the Cards will also host Manhattan College on Sunday, Feb. 24 in the program's opening weekend of competition.

Second-year head coach Dan McDonnell's Louisville baseball team will return to action for the first time since the program's College World Series run in 2007 by hosting Cleveland State at 2 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium in the first of three games with the Vikings on Feb. 22-24. Saturday and Sunday's games are set to begin at 1 p.m. ET.

Head coach Sandy Pearsall and the reigning BIG EAST champion Louisville softball team will return to action at Ulmer Stadium on Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. ET, against Northern Illinois in the first of three days of action in the Cardinal Classic. The Cards will follow the NIU game with a 4 p.m. ET matchup with Nebraska, and will face Ole Miss on Saturday at 1 p.m.
