Since joining the Athletic Department, Miller has helped implement the long-term Financial Management Plan and Gender Equity Plan for the Athletic Association. He helped establish the U of L Student-Athlete Advisory Board in 1994.

Miller worked 11 years in the U of L controller's office prior to joining the athletic department. He served in various capacities with the University Credit Union from 1977, including six years as a member of the union's Board of Directors. Miller has also been active with recreational sports programs on a volunteer basis in the Middletown suburb in which he lives.

A native of Lebanon Junction, Ky., Miller earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Western Kentucky University in 1973.

Miller and his wife, the former Betty Close, have two children -- son Jeremy and daughter Jennifer Buckingham, whose husband David is a fellow U of L graduate -- and one granddaughter, Riley Buckingham.
